About the Role
An established and reputable residential developer is looking to appoint a Technical Manager to support the delivery of a large-scale, multi-phase development in East London. The successful candidate must come from a main contracting background, with solid experience in RC frame and high-rise residential projects.
The Role:
As Technical Manager, you’ll lead and coordinate the design process across both pre-construction and delivery phases. You’ll work closely with consultants, local authorities, internal teams, and site operations to ensure the technical design is compliant, cost-effective, and buildable.
This is a key role requiring someone who can manage detailed technical challenges on complex high-density schemes, particularly those involving reinforced concrete structures and mid- to high-rise buildings.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage full technical delivery of residential schemes from pre-construction through to handover Oversee design coordination for RC frame and high-rise residential projects Manage external consultants, planning authorities, building control and utility providers Commission and review pre-construction reports (e.g., ground investigation, transport, acoustics, flood risk) Produce and manage technical programmes and schedules Chair design team meetings and maintain close liaison with site and commercial teams Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, NHBC standards, and client ERs Support bid/tender stages with technical information and value engineering input Oversee NHBC/BC registration and ensure successful adoption of infrastructure (roads/sewers) Provide technical input on site-specific issues such as foundation strategy, drainage, buildability, and logistics
What We’re Looking For:
Background in main contracting Experience in RC frame and high-rise construction Proven track record of managing technical aspects of large-scale residential schemes Strong understanding of construction methodologies, planning, regulations, and technical standards Good communication skills and ability to manage multiple external stakeholders Relevant qualifications – degree, HNC or equivalent in construction-related discipline Technically competent, commercially aware, and delivery-focused
