About the Role
A real estate hospitality organisation has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and proactive Development Manager to lead the pre-construction phase of both new acquisitions and existing asset enhancement projects. This pivotal role will focus on planning, design, and commercial management, working closely with internal stakeholders, external consultants, and contractors to ensure seamless project delivery.
This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic, fast-paced, and ambitious development team with a growing pipeline of high-profile projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the pre-construction process for new build and capex/refurbishment schemes across the development portfolio
- Manage the planning process, liaising with external consultants, local authorities, and internal teams to secure timely approvals
- Oversee design development, ensuring alignment with commercial objectives, budgets, and programmes
- Contribute to project appraisals, feasibility studies, and financial modelling to support acquisition and existing project enhancements
- Procure and manage professional teams, including architects, engineers, and planning consultants
- Monitor and report on programme, risk, and budget performance during the early stages of project development
- Prepare and deliver clear, well-structured reports and presentations for senior stakeholders
- Collaborate closely with construction, operations, and finance teams to drive integrated project outcomes
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience in development management or project management within the real estate sector (client-side, developer, or consultancy)
- Solid understanding of the UK planning system, technical design development, and commercial drivers behind successful projects
- Demonstrated success delivering complex new build and/or refurbishment schemes, ideally within residential, mixed-use, or commercial sectors
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to contribute to development appraisals and cost analysis
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills
