Senior Building Surveyor - Regional consultancy with national reputation. Midlands

The Role

This Senior Building Surveyor position gives you the opportunity to work with an established team with a strong reputation and a national client base.

You will help to provide clients with a full range of services including building surveys, advice on defects and dilapidation, refurbishments and new build project work and monitoring.  You will be exposed to a great variety of work across a number of projects of various sizes in the commercial, residential, retail, leisure, health and education sectors.

You will have a good understanding of modern construction technologies, trends and practices and will have expert knowledge of current building and design regulations and statutory requirements.

Based at the Birmingham HQ, travel will be required to clients and projects across the Midlands and sometimes further afield.

Typical responsibilities will include:

  • Building surveys and measurements
  • Dealing with a variety of neighbourly matters
  • Contract Administration
  • Attending client meetings
  • Coaching and mentoring more junior colleagues 

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in Building Surveying or related RICS-accredited built environment qualification
  • MRICS
  • Good knowledge of modern construction and design practices, materials, tools and techniques
  • Thorough knowledge of current CDM regulations and other statutory requirements
  • Good presentation skills with strong PowerPoint and Excel experience
  • Personable and able to work with diverse teams
  • Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • 2-4+ years as a Senior Building Surveyor in a client facing environment
  • Experience working on project in residential, retail, leisure and education sectors
  • Prior experience of inner city residential/commercial/mixed-use projects
  • Providing expert advice to private sector owners, occupiers, funders and developers
