Senior Building Surveyor role with full service property consultancy. North West

This established property consultancy advises UK and overseas clients on a full range of services, including investments, planning, development and occupancy to a portfolio of blue chip clients, including many FTSE 100 companies.

With a presence throughout the UK and in key overseas markets, this consultancy is large enough to offer a variety of projects across several sectors with a range of values up to hundreds of millions. Increased activity from a large client base in the North West means they are adding to the team in Manchester.

Working with investors, owners, occupiers and developers this consultancy works across property valuations, planning, development and property tax to provide a full service package to clients.

The Role

This is a client facing Senior Building Surveyor position that will give you the opportunity to work with an experienced Building Consultancy team providing clients with a full range of services including building surveys, advice on defects and dilapidations, property management programmes, contract administration, insurance assessments and claims, rights of light, party walls, expert witness and dispute resolution.

You will be working across a number of projects of various sizes across commercial, residential, retail, leisure and education sectors.

You will be up to date with the latest construction technologies, trends and practises and will have a thorough understanding of current legislation and statutory requirements.

Based out of smart central Manchester offices, some travel to client meetings and periodic site visits will be required. 

Typical responsibilities will include:

  • Risk assessment and reporting
  • Building surveys including schedules of condition and dilapidations
  • Dealing with a variety of neighbourly matters
  • Contract Administration
  • Attending client meetings
  • Coaching and mentoring more junior colleagues 

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in Building Surveying or related RICS-accredited built environment qualification
  • MRICS
  • Good knowledge of modern construction and design practises, materials, tools and techniques
  • Thorough knowledge of current CDM regulations and other statutory requirements
  • Good presentation skills with strong PowerPoint and Excel experience
  • A good communicator and able to work with and lead diverse teams

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • 2-4+ years as a Senior Building Surveyor in a client facing environment
  • Experience working on project in residential, retail, leisure and education sectors
  • Prior experience of inner city residential/commercial/mixed-use projects
  • Providing expert advice to private sector owners, occupiers, funders and developers
