Building Surveyor role - national property consultancy with strong presence in the North West

Working with investors, owners, occupiers and developers this consultancy works across property valuations, planning, development and property tax to provide a full service package to clients.

The Role

This is a client facing Building Surveyor position that gives you the opportunity to work with an experienced Building Consultancy team providing clients with a full range of services including building surveys, advice on defects and dilapidations, property management programmes, contract administration, insurance assessments, party walls, rights of light, expert witness and dispute resolution.

You will work on a variety of projects and will be exposed to sectors including residential, commercial, retail, leisure, education and health.

You will be familiar with the latest technologies, trends and practises within the industry and will have a thorough understanding of current construction and buildings legislation and statutory requirements.

Working out of modern central Manchester offices, this position will require some travel to client meetings and site visits. 

Typical responsibilities may include:

  • Building Surveys and Building Measurement
  • Design risk assessment and reporting
  • Preparing environmental assessments and reports
  • Energy efficiency measurement
  • Preparing and costing preventive maintenance plans
  • Assisting with contract administration
  • Attending client meetings 

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in Building Surveying or related RICS-accredited built environment qualification in surveying, construction, civil engineering or 
  • building engineering
  • Familiarity with modern construction and design practises, materials, tools and techniques
  • Thorough knowledge of current CDM regulations and other statutory requirements
  • Good presentation skills with strong PowerPoint and Excel experience
  • A good communicator able to work with diverse teams

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • 2+ years as Building Surveyor, preferably in a client facing environment
  • Experience working on project values of £25m+
  • Experience of large city centre regeneration projects
  • Experience using Microsoft Project or similar project management application
